Midnight Sun Festival

"Hätä keinon keksii." A Finnish saying meaning, "Emergency finds a way." Let me explain! We had booked our entire January and February full of shows, but when it got time to book the last weekend in February we couldn't find any event that seemed worthwhile for us.

A family member of ours had just bought a new condo in Sunny Isles, Florida and we wanted to find an event close by as to spend some extra time with them. After weeks of searching, we found this festival called the Midnight Sun Festival near West Palm Beach an hour north of Sunny Isles. Without really diving deeper into what this festival was, we applied, were accepted, and committed to it.

Feeling at ease we spent time with family and didn't think much about the festival until two days before. At that point, we were curious and perused their Instagram page, finding out this event was in fact a Finnish Cultural Festival. Without either of us being Finnish we were excited and decided to hope for the best.

This Finnish saying means the same as “Necessity is the mother of invention”. Things always get solved, when it’s the last minute or a critical situation. In this case, our small emergency, turned into such a grand blessing. Not only did we get the opportunity to immerse ourselves in Finnish culture, great music, and delicious food, but we also had such a blast.

Even with the rain, we were able to escape into our festival neighbor's sauna, we met so many cheerful Fins, and even witnessed the wildest event we have ever seen at any market we have been to, a Wife Carrying Contest!

We were also greeted by a family struggling with a young daughter's eczema, for years unable to find a substantial cure. On Saturday they put a small sample of Eternal Nectar Skin Cream on their daughter's arm to see if it would help, by Sunday when they returned, we were all in tears to find her eczema was completely gone! What a magnificent blessing and a truly miracle, all the glory goes to YHWH! We cannot wait to return to this event if these wild Fins will have us again next year!!!
